1. Introduction
Aerospace Medicine is the medical discipline that studies effects of external environmental factors (low pressure, hypoxia, cosmic radiation, etc.) and flight factors (overweight and weightlessness, etc.) on the physiological functions of the human body and the protective measures when flying in the atmosphere and outer space.
2. Main Tasks
Provide the theoretical and technical support of relevant medical and (or) life sciences for aviation and spaceflight; training high-quality professional and technical personnel in aviation, aerospace medical career; study the influence mechanism of aviation, aerospace to human health and disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, and puts forward protective measures, to ensure operating personnel and passengers in a healthy, safe, comfortable environment.
3. Research Directions
Main research directions: aerospace physiology, aviation aerospace biological dynamics, psychology of aeronautics and astronautics, aerospace ergonomics, aerospace clinical medical, hygiene of aeronautics and astronautics, aerospace medical engineering, etc.
4. Changes in Physiological Function of Human Body Caused by Weightlessness
1) Cardiovascular function change
2) Dizziness, nausea, abdominal discomfort, postural inversion and other symptoms of motion sickness when in weightlessness, known as space motion sickness, also known as space adaptation syndrome
3) Bone salt metabolism disorder.
4) Muscle changes caused by weightlessness, mainly performed as weakening muscle group tension against the gravity, and even shrinking.
