1. Introduction
Atmospheric Remote Sensing is a kind of detecting method and technique which refers to the instrument away from atmosphere determines composition, movement state and meteorological elements of atmosphere in a certain distance. Atmospheric remote sensing includes meteorological radar and meteorological satellite. Theory of atmospheric remote sensing is related with knowledge of mechanics, electromagnetic, atmospheric dynamics, atmospheric turbulence, atmospheric optics, atmospheric radiation, cloud and precipitation physics and atmospheric electricity.
2. Research Directions
Atmospheric remote sensing program studies research and development of experimental equipments which can transmit, receive, analyze and display physical characteristics of various atmospheric signals and studies theory and method of extracting atmospheric information from physical characteristics of atmospheric signals.
3. Types of Atmospheric Remote Sensing
1) Passive atmospheric remote sensing is a kind of method and technique for atmospheric sounding with physical effect of interaction which is between radiation emitted by atmosphere itself or other natural sources and atmosphere.
2) Active atmospheric remote sensing: human launch high power wave signal of various frequencies with different methods, and then receive, analysis and display echo signal reflected by atmosphere; finally extract information of atmospheric composition and the meteorological element from these echo signals.
3) Satellite borne atmospheric remote sensing refers to obtaining atmospheric data with atmospheric infrared hyperspectral detector equipped with satellite.
4) Ground-based atmospheric remote sensing refers to obtaining atmospheric data by placing infrared hyperspectral detector on the ground.
