Why Study at Beijing Institute of Petrochemica l Technology, China
As the first batch of institutions of higher learning, Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology have been approved firstly to carry out the “talents training Project” to serve the Special needs of the State and the first batch of "Education and training Program for Excellence Engineers" and it is credited as pilot universities in the CDIO engineering education reform. It was founded in 1978, formerly known as Beijing Petrochemical College and the second Branch of Beijing Institute of Chemical Engineering. (1) History
It was founded in 1978, formerly known as Beijing Petrochemical College and the second Branch of Beijing Institute of Chemical Engineering. On November 29th, 1992, with the approval of the State Education Commission, the Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology was upgraded on the basis of the Beijing College of Petroleum and Chemical Technology. In 2000, the right of management was transferred from Chinese Petrochemical company to Beijing capital. It was constructed by the central government and Beijing city. In October 2011, the university was approved to become a pilot unit for training postgraduates of master's degree.

As of September 2014, there are 13 colleges including departments, ministries and 27 undergraduate majors. As of September 2014, the school has 3 national specialty, 8 national "excellent engineer education and training plan" pilot specialty, 1 "undergraduate teaching engineering" pilot major for comprehensive reform, 5 special specialty in Beijing; There are 2 national engineering practice education centers, 1 national virtual simulation experimental teaching center, 2 national university students' off-campus practical education bases and 3 Beijing university experimental teaching demonstration centers. As of September 2014, the school has 3 key laboratories in Beijing, 11 scientific and technological innovation teams in Beijing, 1 university engineering research center in Beijing, and 1 philosophy and social science research base in Beijing. The total value of scientific research instruments and equipment reached 430 million yuan, and 1.77 million books were collected in the library. It has 797 faculty members, of which 517 were full-time teachers and 48.5 percent were full-time teachers with doctorate degrees. (4)Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology University Achievement

As of September 2014, the school has established cooperative relations with more than 20 foreign universities and scientific research institutions from different countries including the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Norway, Finland, Malaysia, etc. The international education of BIST has been accepting international students studying in China.
