1. History
Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) was founded in 1958 and formerly known as Beijing Institute of Chemical Technology, Beijing University of Chemical Technology has become a nationally recognized multidisciplinary university directly under the Ministry of Education. In the last decade alone, Beijing University of Chemical Technology has made considerable strides in the core fields of science and technology as well as integrating the academic disciplines of management, economics, law, the liberal arts, education and medicine to its curriculum and comprehensive outlook. Now, Beijing University of Chemical Technology has its roots firmly planted on the national stage, becoming a key contributor in both the national ‘211 Project’ and the ‘985 Advantage Subject Innovation Platform,’ while keeping to the original goal of pursuing advanced scientific research and the development of high technology. 2. Discipline and programs
Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) consists of 12 schools: Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Information Science and Technology, Economic Management, Science, Humanities and Law, Life Science and Technology, and Further Education and Vocational Education, etc. There are around 1800 staff members are working on campus, and around 12000 students. CUTC setting 5 post-doctoral stations, 6 primary discipline doctoral programs, 31 subordinate discipline doctoral programs, 17 primary discipline master’s programs, 104 subordinate discipline master’s programs and 48 undergraduate majors. Beijing University of Chemical Technology currently offers English-language masters programs in Chemical Engineering and in Materials Science and Engineering (Macromolecules).

Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) consists of 3 campuses. The east campus which lies in Beisanhuan East Road, enjoys convenient traffic; the west campus near Zizhuyuan park is environmental elegant and the north campus, close to Ming Tombs Scenic Area, is scenic pleasant. At the present, Beijing University of Chemical Technology has both national research institutes and university research institute. Among National research institute including Engineering Research Center of Intelligent Process System Engineering, Ministry of Education System Simulation Technology Research Center of former Ministry of Chemical Industry. There are also 11 research and laboratory institutes includes Laboratory for Health Informatics and Intelligent Decision, Institute of Electronic Information Engineering, Laboratory for Robot Technology, Institute of Software Engineering and Institute of Measurement and Control. The Laboratory of Molecular and Materials Simulation is a division of State Key Laboratory of Organic-Inorganic Composites, Beijing University of Chemical Technology. The main research interests include adsorption properties of porous nanomaterials, development of force field of ionic liquids, structure and catalysis properties of metallic nanoclusters, self-assembly of polymers with complex architecture and transport behavior of fluids in nanomembrane.

Since the founding of the university, Beijing University of Chemical Technology has trained nearly 100,000 talented individuals who have contributed to the growth of the country. Beijing University of Chemical Technology has 2,275 staff and faculty members, including 700 faculty members with the title of professor or associate professor, including six academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. After sixty years’ development, the university has developed five characteristic research areas, namely “the science and technology of chemical process intensification”, “new material molecular design and product engineering”, “environmental energy catalysis”, “coal-based chemicals and clean energy”, and “environmental science and engineering”, and constructed the three-in-one innovation system of “basic research technological innovation engineering application”, which comprises over twenty professional research teams featuring interdisciplinary, collaboration, and collective innovation.
5. Communication and international cooperation
Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) attaches great importance to international academic and cultural education exchange. It has established friendly cooperation relationships with universities from Britain, US, France, Germany, Australia, South Korea, Japan and etc. Du Pont, Dow Chemical Company, BASF, Bayer, Rhone Poulenc Rorer and other companies provide scholarships to students at school. Beijing University of Chemical Technology has a multi-level personnel training program ranging from Chinese-language learning education to undergraduate, Master’s and doctoral education for international students.
