1. Introduction
Stomatology ( Oral Medicine) is developed from the Dentistry of a study of human teeth and dentition, oral soft and hard tissue and maxillofacial, neck diseases of various disciplines, divided into two parts of basic medicine and clinical medicine. Including oral medicine, oral and maxillofacial surgery, oral prosthetics, orthodontics, children's oral science, oral prevention..
2. Training Objectives
Stomatology program is to cultivate senior medical professionals equipped with the medical basic theory and clinical knowledge. Oral medical students focusing on learning basic theory and basic knowledge of stomatology, training on diagnosis, treatment and prevention of oral and maxillofacial disease, who can be engaged in diagnose, repair and preventive health care of oral common disease and frequently occurring diseases in the medical and health institutions.
Graduates should acquire the following knowledge and abilities:
(1) Basic theoretical knowledge and experimental skills in basic medicine and clinical medicine;
(2) Master the basic theoretical knowledge and medical skills of oral medicine;
(3) The ability to deal with the common diseases in oral cavity and maxillofacial region, the diagnosis and treatment of frequently occurring diseases, and the initial treatment of acute, difficult and heavy syndrome;
(4) Basic knowledge of oral repair work and general operating skills;
(5) Master the basic methods of document retrieval and data query, and have the ability of oral medicine research and practical work.

oral anatomy and physiology, oral tissue pathology, oral material science, oral medicine (operative dentistry and endodontics, periodontal disease, oral mucosal diseases, pediatric dentistry), oral and maxillofacial surgery, prosthetic dentistry, oral orthodontics, oral and maxillofacial imaging, oral preventive medicine.
4. Internship
The main practical teaching: including oral medicine, oral surgery and prosthetic dentistry and other disciplines for graduation internship, the general schedule is 36-42 weeks.
(1) Dental caries
Treatment of various types of dental caries indications and cavity preparation principle;
Selection of therapeutic equipment and filling materials;
Recovery of tooth shape and function;
Treatment of deep caries;
Filling technique (including amalgam filling, photosensitive resin filling, etc.);
Fixed nail repair, desensitization therapy;
Types and characteristics of new materials
(2). Non-carious dental disease
Dental trauma (tooth fracture, cracked teeth), wedge shaped defect;
Wear, enamel hypoplasia, tetracycline teeth, dental fluorosis, central cusp deformity, tooth retraction, dentin hypersensitivity.
Tooth replantation, non pulp bleaching;
(3). Pulpitis and apical periapical disease
Each type of pulpitis and periodontitis;
Emergency treatment of acute pulpitis and acute periapical periodontitis;
X-ray diagnosis and differential diagnosis of chronic periapical;
Root canal therapy, pulp treatment, resinifying therapy;
The vital pulp preservation technology;
Root resection, periapical curettage.
Clinical Practice
The specific requirements of clinical practice including:
(1) The correct collection of disease history, oral examination, correct diagnosis.
(2) Master caries diagnosis (especially adjacent surface caries) filling method and bonding repair method. Be able to diagnose pulpitis, periapical periodontitis accurately and propose treatment measures for clinical operation. Be able to diagnose non-carious tooth body diseases, like enamel hypoplasia, wear, malformed lingual fossa, abnormal central tip, wedge shaped defect, cracked; understand clinical manifestations and treatment measures of the root fracture; dentin hypersensitivity can be judged, and can identify out with reaction of pulp caused by crack and proximal caries, properly use desensitization.
(3) To master the standard treatment operation.
(4) Write right medical records neatly.
5. Degrees
Bachelor of Dentistry Surgery (BDS)/Bachelor of Stomatology, Master Degree of Dentistry Surgery ( MDS ), Doctoral Degree of Dentistry Surgery ( DDS)
6. Medical Knowledge
Oral medicine includes six aspects, such as oral medicine, oral surgery, prosthetic dentistry, oral basics, orthodontics and oral materials.
(1) Oral medicine includes tooth, dental pulp disease, periodontal disease, mucosal disease, children's oral medicine
(2) Prosthetic dentistry includes fixed partial denture, removable partial denture, complete denture and others
(3) Oral basics includes oral anatomy and physiology, oral tissue pathology and others
(4) Oral and maxillofacial surgery includes alveolar surgery, implant and others
(5) Orthodontics includes orthodontics basic knowledge, the examples discussion of the oral cavity and others
