Eastern Liaoning University is located on the shore of the Yellow Sea and the Yalu River and belongs to Dandong City, Liaoning Province, which is called the largest and most bea utiful border city in China and is known as the "heroic city". It is the only provincial general undergraduate university with the characteristics of riverside, coastal and border areas in the province. It is the first pilot of transformation and development institutes in the province and the alliance Institutes of China Applied Technology University. As a whole, it nearly transferred 160,000 front-line talents to industrial enterprises, basic education, financial management, silk textile, medical and health care, agricultural technology and other fields throughout the country.
(1)History
At the beginning, the school started in 1912 as a private Andong Sanyu National College (horticultural school). Higher education began in 1948 at Andong Provincial Agricultural College. Later on Danshi, Silk School, Finance School, Health School, Staff College, Teachers College, Dandong University, Medical Branch, Finance College, Textile College, Dandong College and Vocational College were merged successively in different historical periods. Then Eastern Liaoning University was established in April 2003. In 2010, it passed the assessment of national undergraduate teaching qualification .
(2)Discipline and programs
The university has 16 secondary colleges with full-time students , 48 undergraduate majors and 23 higher vocational majors, covering nine disciplines such as economics, pedagogy, literature, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management and art. There are three national pilot majors, two provincial demonstration majors, two provincial brand majors, one provincial key cultivation discipline, one provincial key supporting specialty, two provincial comprehensive reforming pilot specialties, four provincial pilot specialties of transformation and development , two provincial demonstration specialties of transformation and development , and two provincial pilot specialties of innovation and entrepreneurship education, three provincial excellent teaching teams , nine provincial teaching achievements ,one provincial virtual demonstration center, three provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, 10 provincial practical education bases of college students, one provincial practical education base of college students' innovation and entrepreneurship,14 provincial-level higher-quality courses. And it undertook the training project of provincial rural assistant general practitioners. It was awarded KAB entrepreneurship education base of national college students , provincial demonstration school of entrepreneurship and education, national defense education. It has been approved as the third batch of cooperative colleges and universities of the "Ministry of Education - ZTE ICT Industry-Education Integration Innovation Base" and joined the "School-Enterprise Cooperation Innovation Development Alliance" of the Ministry of Education.
(3)Academic facilities
The university consists of two main campuses, Linjiang and Jinshan. The campus covers a total area of 1287 mu, with a total construction area of 406,300 square meters, a total fixed asset value of 770 million yuan, nearly 1.08 million printed books and nearly 580,000 electronic books. There are 1705 faculty members and 988 full-time teachers, including 513 teachers with senior and Vice-Senior titles, 765 teachers with doctoral and master's degrees, 3 experts with special allowances from the State Council, 1 at the 100-person level of Millions of Talents Project, 8 at the 1000-person level of Millions of Talents Project, 2 provincial-level excellent teachers and 11 provincial-level top teaching teachers . The university has carried out the project of improving the quality of young and middle-aged teachers and building a talent echelon, and selected 64 third-talent echelons, 484 double-qualified teachers. At present, there are 14154 undergraduate students in our college.
(4)Eastern Liaoning University Research and Achievement
The university has been approved for two provincial key laboratories of functional textile materials and radioactivity warning and monitoring technology of water environment, and provincial humanities and social science research bases such as Liaoning Regional Development Strategy Research Base and Provincial Rural Revitalization Strategy Research Base. It is closely integrated with local industries. Universities and enterprises are cooperating with each other deeply. It also establishes public technology service platform of textile and clothing ,Strategic Cooperation Platform of Donggang Modern Agriculture , Fengcheng Boron Chemical Co-innovation City Alliance, Man Pharmaceutical Resources Development and Applied Research Institute and 10 Industry Enterprises of School-Enterprise Co-operation Alliance.
It has built six demonstration bases for agricultural scientific and technological achievements, including small berries, azaleas, bees and Cordyceps militaris, and successively joined 23 provincial school-enterprise alliances. Korean Peninsula Research Center, Dandong Science and Technology Development Center Exhibition strategy research center, cultural and social research institute and border ethnic research base, etc. play a new role of "think tank"; small berry star has been approved provincial "star creation space"; as a key protection unit of provincial ancient books, 24 ancient books have been selected into "precious ancient books of Liaoning Province ". Since 2015, the university has undertaken 126 research projects at the provincial level or above, including 9 National Research projects. It signed 189 horizontal research projects, with research funds reaching 29.56 million yuan,won 133 research awards at the municipal level or above, published 225 high-level papers, and 267 patents authorized .
(5)Communication and international cooperation
The university has always attached importance to international exchanges and cooperation, and actively implemented the national "one belt and one way" initiative to carry out education in Asian and African countries. And it cooperates with more than 30 foreign universities to establish inter-school relations, carry out extensive academic exchange and joint school-running.Among them, frequent exchanges with 21 universities in Korea fully reflect the geographic advantages of the university.
