1. Introduction

Geotechnical Engineering is an important branch of civil engineering, and it is a comprehensive subject covering engineering geology, soil mechanics, rock mechanics, foundation engineering and underground engineering. Geotechnical engineering researches on problems of rock and soil engineering, including groundwork and foundation, slope and underground engineering, etc.

1). Graduate can be engaged in design, construction, technology management or supervision of geotechnical engineering in industries of construction, railway, highway, water and electricity, national defense, etc.
