Lanzhou Jiaotong University is the Gansu Province high-level university construction university, which was selected by the Ministry of Education as "excellent engineer education training plan", "the central and western university foundation ability construction project", the training base for Air Force Reserve Officer of the Chinese people's Liberation Army and was honored with other titles. (1)History
Lanzhou Jiaotong University was founded in 1958. In that year, the Ministry of Railways decided to build a new Lanzhou Railway Institute at the site of the Lanzhou Tang hospital. To this end, the Ministry of Railways with the approval of Ministry of Railways to the Central Committee of the party and the State Council, established the Lanzhou Railway Institute. In March 2000, the school operated according to the new management system. In 2001, Gansu Petrochemical School was integrated into Lanzhou Railway College. On May 20, 2003, the Gansu Provincial people's Government held a news conference and officially announced the decision to change its name. On May 25, the ceremony of renaming was solemnly held on the campus of Jiaotong University. In 2010, LanZhou JiaoTong University established LanZhou JiaoTong University Wuwei campus. In 2011, it became the second batch of "Education and training Program for excellent Engineers" of the Ministry of Education to carry out colleges and universities. In 2013, it became a university of "basic capacity building project of universities in the central and western part of China". In 2016, Lanzhou Jiaotong University signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the China Academy of Railway Sciences.

Lanzhou Jiaotong University has 20 schools and one physical Education Department, with 62 undergraduate majors and 12 specialized specialties. As of March 2016, the university has 4 postdoctoral research stations, 5 Ph. D. degree authorized first-level disciplines, 34 doctoral degree authorized disciplines, 23 master degree authorized first-level disciplines, and 105 master degree authorized disciplines. The school has 19 key subjects in Gansu Province, 10 key subjects in the Ministry of Railways, and the "Transportation Engineering" discipline ranked 8th in the national evaluation. The university has one pilot project for comprehensive reform of national undergraduate specialty, 11 national engineering practice education centers, one national experimental area for talent training mode innovation, and four national experimental teaching demonstration centers, One national virtual simulation experimental teaching center, 11 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, 15 provincial and ministerial key laboratories, 14 provincial and ministerial engineering research centers, 6 state-level specialty specialties and 8 provincial specialties. (4)Lanzhou Jiaotong University Achievement
From 2006 to 2011, the school undertook 2059 scientific research projects at all levels, of which 77 were national projects and 394 were provincial and ministerial projects, and the research funds amounted to 610 million yuan. A total of 7738 academic papers were published, of which 1008 were collected by SCI, EI, ISTP, and 225 teaching materials and monographs were published. It won two special awards for scientific and technological progress of the Ministry of Railways, one first prize for scientific and technological progress of the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing, one special award for major scientific and technological achievements of the national railway, and one second prize for the National Natural Science Award, National Science and Technology Progress Award, second Class Award, National Science and Technology Progress Award, first Class Award, National Science and Technology Award, National Science and Technology Progress Award.
(5)Communication and international cooperation
Based on "studying in China", the Institute of International Education, while optimizing the curriculum and paying close attention to the quality of training, fully displays the characteristics of the railway transportation major of Lanzhou Jiaotong University and closely follows the foreign policy of the country. The college has established a firm cooperative relationship with more than 20 foreign colleges and universities and has actively promoted the cooperation of personnel training and scientific research between Gansu Province and Central Asia, Central Asia and South Asia, and has made great achievements in international exchanges and cooperation.
