Brief Introduction
Medical College of Xiamen University is mainly made up of School of Life Sciences, School of Medicine.
School of Medicine established in October 11th, 1996, under the joint supervision of the government and Xiamen University, and was funded by Overseas Chinese. Medical college is located in the Xiamen city with beautiful scenery and pleasant climate, so people give it a name as “garden on the sea”.
School of Life Sciences is composed of biological department, biochemistry and biotechnology department, biomedical science department, agricultural biotechnology department, National Institute of infectious diseases diagnosis and vaccine Engineering Technology Research Center, Key Laboratory of Ministry of education on cell biology and tumor cell engineering, The predecessor of the Institute is the biology department, which was founded in 1922 and has a high level of faculty.

School of medical has 5 undergraduate specialties such as clinical medicine, preventive medicine, Chinese medicine, pharmacy, nursing, etc., 7 master's degree specialties in physiology, microbiology, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacology, surgery, internal medicine, oncology, and 4 post doctoral scientific research workstation of the State Ministry of personnel.
School of life science has 3 national key disciplines: zoology, aquatic biology, cell biology, one "211" national key construction discipline: modern animal and botany, as well as 4 Key discipline of Fujian Province: ecology, cell biology, microbiology, biochemistry and molecular biology. There are biological post doctoral mobile stations, with a doctorate authorized first-grade discipline in biology, 8 professional can recruit doctoral students, 9 professional can recruit graduate students and 4 majors can recruit undergraduates. There are also biological science research and teaching personnel training base, national life science and technology talents training base.

Medical College of Xiamen University consists of 52 Schools and Departments; totally, the number of international students reaches 210 among the medical students. The campus covers entirely an area of 1,160,000 square meters. There are 3 Natural reservoirs, 2 artificial lakes. The number of students will reach 30000 people by 2021 -the occasion of the Centennial ceremony. The campus is seated on Xiangan South Road, Xiangan district, Xiamen, with good environment and easy access.

The Teaching and Research Building in Medical College of Xiamen University provides both domestic and returned overseas scientists with well-equipped laboratories and net access. Medical College of Xiamen University has over 20 hospitals for students practicing across the country, among those 7 are directly affiliated to the university, which enjoy high reputation in the south of the country. Besides, Medical College of Xiamen University is actively building a high - level comprehensive new affiliated hospital - Xiangan affiliated Hospital of Xiamen University. These affiliated hospitals fulfill their functions and perform their duties in clinical treatment, research, teaching, and courses of study.

School of Medicine received more than 60 national "863 Program", "973 Plan" project and provincial major scientific research projects, the total number of scientific research achievements is 294, including 2 national scientific and technological progress second prizes, 109 provincial and ministerial level scientific research prizes, 1 Chinese medical second-class prize. More than 400 papers delivered by Medical College of Xiamen University were published by SCI. In 2010, the Medical College gets 30 items of National Natural Science Fund.
Since the "Eleventh Five Year Plan", the School of Life Science undertakes national "973 project", "863 project”, National Natural Science Fund project, National Science and technology research projects, provincial and ministerial level projects, etc, with a total number of 400 projects, research funds in place nearly 400 million RMB. The college has published 600 SCI papers in international top journals such as Science, Nature Immunology, Developmental Cell, Genes & Development, EMBO J, among which 83 papers are of Influence factor more than 5.0, 13 papers are of Influence factor more than 10.0. Besides, the college has access to nearly 73 Licensed Patents; published nearly 29 textbooks and monographs.

Medical College of Xiamen University has built up close links with more than 100 comprehensive or medical colleges and universities of Asian, European and American, Oceania, Africa countries and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
