Medical School of Southeast University, located on the side of elegant Xuanwu Lake in CBD of Nanjing, the campus of the Medical School is a quiet and graceful place with unique scenery and environment. The history of college can be traced back to 1935, the former medical school of National Central University. During more than 70 years history, a great number of well-known doctors and educators who contributed a lot to the modern medicine of China have once studied or worked here.

Medical School of Southeast University presently has set up bioengineering, pathogen biology and immunology, genetics, and developmental biology, biochemistry and molecular biology, pathology and pathophysiology, structural study of neuroscience and medicine, physiology and pharmacology foundation; Internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, nursing, medical laboratory science, medical imaging, neurologic and psychiatric, oncology, intensive medicine, clinical medicine; dozens of teaching and research section which receives teaching for about thirty thousand hours a year, emerging a group of outstanding subject leaders and teachers.

The majors of the school include clinical medicine medical imaging, lab science, nursing care, and biology engineering. In 2010, the number of students in study sum up to more than 2400, including candidates of 1400 bachelors, 622 masters, 143 doctors and 322 international students. Zhongda Hospital, the affiliated hospital, is one of the first national approved highest-level hospitals in Jiangsu province, with important influence in the academic fields of intensive care medicine, radiology, cardiology, neurology, etc. among China. With several changes of the history, the institute, as the key construction and comprehensive university school of medicine of national "985" project, administered by the central government, following the rules of medicine and life science, unswervingly taking the path of elite education, committed to cultivating professional talents with solid foundation and international vision of innovative medicine and life.

In the process of more than 70 years’ development, the institute has trained tens of thousands of scientists, educators and outstanding talents from all walks of life, a number of prestigious medical masters and educators such as Pan Mingzi, Zheng Ji.
After more than ten years of unremitting efforts, Professor Gao-jun Teng and his team successfully created a new digestive tract stent, second and third generation of the digestive, finding a more effective treatment method for patients and achieving good economic and social benefits, and won the second prize of annual national scientific and technological progress in 2011.
