Medical Degree Program in China - Medical Virus

Medical Virus is a new subject with virus as the research object through mutual penetration and integration of virology and molecular biology. Specifically, it is a science exploring the viral genome replication, gene expression and regulation mechanism, thus revealing the virus infection, pathogenic molecular nature, to provide a theoretical foundation and the basis for virus gene engineering vaccine and development of antiviral drugs and virus disease diagnosis, prevention and treatment after a full understanding of the general morphology and structure characteristics of the virus. 

Medical Virus is a subject developing fast among basic medicine. Current data show that about 75% of human infectious diseases are caused by viruses, and the pathogenesis of some autoimmune diseases and cancer are related to viruses. Virus as a unique class of non cell type microbial, study on the basic characteristics, gene structure and function, not only improve the viral disease diagnosis, prevention and treatment level; but also greatly promoted the forward step in the theory and technology of molecular biology basis of medicine research. Besides, in order to adapt to the discipline development, this course will make Medical Virus development throughout the whole teaching process, especially in the teaching of virus and cancer and hepatitis virus chapter, introduce the latest research developments, to enable students to apply their knowledge into practice. So “Medical Virus” course was set up  on the basis of theory knowledge of Virus and the molecular biology knowledge, which is of great necessity.
