Oncology is the research subject focusing on tumor diagnosis and treatment. There are seven research directions: tumor imaging diagnosis and interventional therapy, tumor early diagnosis and comprehensive treatment, tumor stem cell research and biological therapy, tumor radiotherapy, breast cancer early diagnosis and treatment, combined treatment of thyroid neoplasms, diagnosis and treatment of blood system tumor

 

 

Oncology students should master the basic knowledge, basic theory and basic skills of the solid system of oncology, to be familiar with and understand the frontier and development direction of this discipline. Students can independently deal with the common diseases and frequently occurring diseases in the field of the subject. Master the basic methods and basic technology of clinical medical research; with rigorous and realistic scientific attitude and pioneering innovation enterprising spirit and being independent in the scientific research, medical work, teaching and specialized technical, to achieve the level of senior residents and teaching assistants.

 

 

Malignant tumors have become the main killer of human beings. Research on human malignant tumor has been invested a lot of manpower, material and financial resources, including basic and clinical research. Research on malignant tumor has a rapid progress in recent years, including tumor etiology, genetic, molecular epidemiology, and clinical improvement in traditional surgery, radiation treatment and chemical treatment methods, especially multidisciplinary combined treatment being proposed and applied, the invention of new therapeutic tools and methods and successful clinical practice. However in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of malignant tumor, revolutionary progress has not appeared, unknown areas and problems to be solved are far more than the knowledge we have obtained and problems we have solved, so study on malignant tumor has great challenge and difficulty, but there is also huge development space and chance of success at the same time. Perhaps this is the reason why more and more medical students and life science students devoted to the research on malignant tumor in recent years.

 

 

Oncology Department is divided into Internal Medicine Oncology and Surgical Oncology. Internal medicine oncology is mainly engaged in internal medicine treatment of a variety of benign and malignant tumors; surgical oncology provides comprehensive treatment based on surgery. The relevant departments of specialized cancer hospitals will further divide according to the different parts, such as breast surgery, head and neck surgery, thoracic surgery, gynecology oncology, abdominal surgery, internal medicine tumor, etc.

The treatment of cancer has entered the era of multimodality therapy, clinical practice has proved that the use of any single treatment is often difficult to achieve the best results at this stage. Therefore, in addition to some early tumors and other special types of tumors, the vast majority of the treatment of tumors is the multimodality therapy. The concept of multimodality therapy is to apply the existing treatment means designedly and reasonably according to the patient’s body, tumor pathological type, range of invasion (stage of the disease) and development trend, to greatly improve the tumor cure rate and prolong the survival period, improve the quality of life of patients.

Tumor comprehensive treatment is not the simple combination of a variety of treatment methods, like surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, biological therapy and traditional Chinese medicine treatment, but the aggregate of a planned, step by step, sequential individualized treatment, which is a systematic treatment process, requiring the effective cooperation of surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy to successfully complete.
