Brief Introduction
Shandong University School of Medicine is located in beautiful Baotuquan - campus of Shandong University, one of the earliest medical colleges in China. After one hundred years of wind and rain, school of medicine has formed a fine tradition of pursuing truth, making progress, selfless dedication, also with the mission to cultivate medical skills, develop noble medical ethics, burden the social responsibility, and improve people’s livelihood. (1). History
Shandong University School of Medicine, as the main body of former Shandong Medical University, is one of the earliest medical schools in our country, with a long history dating back to Medical School of Cheeloo University founded in 1911. In 1952 Medical School of Cheeloo University, Shandong Provincial Medical College and East China Norman Bethune Medical College were united as Shandong Medical College and was renamed as Shandong Medical University in 1985. In July 2000, with the merge of Shandong University, Shandong Medical University and Shandong University of Technology, the Department of Preclinical Medicine and the Department of Clinical Medicine of former Shandong Medical University were combined into the present School of Medicine.

The school has 28 preclinical and clinical research institutes and 8 affiliated hospitals. There are 1024 preclinical and clinical teaching staff members, among whom are 335 professors, 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 5 specially invited professors by “Cheung Kong Scholar Award Program”, 3 winners of National Outstanding Youth Foundation, 3 members of the first and second levels of national “Hundred, Thousand and Million Talents Project”, 11 members of “ New Century Outstanding Talents Supporting Program”, 17 specially invited professor of “ Taishan Scholars Construction Project” of Shandong Province, 4 tutors of “100 National Excellent Doctoral Dissertations”, 2 national teaching celebrities, 168 PhD tutors and 744 M.S. Tutors
(3). Campus Overview
The Baotu Campus is next to some tourist places ,such as：Daming Lake, Mount Qianfo. In addition, the transportation around here is very convenient for the students to get out. The length of north-south axis at main campus school districts is as long as more than 200 meters. Office buildings are in the axes northernmost, the southernmost tip of which is the chapel. Main roads in the campus are named after planted flowers and trees on both sides, from north to south of almond shaped, HuaiYin road, Red Maple road, pine, Qingyang road, Long-cypress road. The campus is beautiful with green trees and the four seasons of flowers.

Affiliated hospital of Shandong University School of Medicine includes Qilu hospital of Shandong University, The Second Hospital of Shandong University, Shandong Provincial Hospital, Jinan Central Hospital, Qianfoshan Hospital in Shandong Province, Affiliated Reproduction Hospital of Shandong University. These hospitals provide many chances to practice for medical international students.

Over the past 100 years, the School of Medicine has fostered more than 30,000 outstanding talents and assembled a large number of celebrated experts and scholars enjoying both national and international prestige. Among them are Professor Jiang Qing, You Jiajun, Zhao Changlin, Lan Xichun, Sun Hongquan, Gong Naiquan, Zhang Huiquan, Li Zuanwen, Su Yingkuan, and Academician Zhou Tingchong, Huang Cuifen, Hong Tao, Zhang Yun and Xie Lixin. They are the founders and pioneers of related disciplines of medicine in our country. For the past few years, the School of Medicine has taken on more than 800 research projects of “973” and “863” programs, National Key Scientific and Technological Research Programs, National Outstanding Youth Foundation and National Natural Science Foundation. It has also won 190 scientific and technological awards at national, ministerial and provincial levels. Nearly 7000 essays have been published in national and international academic periodicals, like Nature Genetics, Cell and Blood.
Communication and Cooperation
Shandong University School of Medicine actively carries out substantial exchanges and cooperation with high levels of medical colleges and universities at home and abroad, such as to make cooperation with the Baylor college of medicine of USA for the construction of laboratory, joint graduate training, the mutual visit of undergraduate students, and other cooperation projects.
