Urban and Rural Planning Degree Program in China

1. Introduction

Urban and Rural Planning program cultivates the senior technical talents who can master the knowledge of urban planning and urban design, get engaged in urban planning design and management, urban and rural road transportation planning, urban and rural ecology planning, landscape and recreation system planning in the department of urban planning and design, urban planning management, decision-making consulting, real estate development. And they can also get engaged in urban and rural social and economic development planning, regional planning, urban and rural development, research of real estate planning and related policies and regulations and others. 

2. Training Requirements

The students mainly study the basic knowledge and theory of urban and rural planning, urban and rural ecological and environmental protection, urban and rural transportation, urban and rural municipal engineering planning, regional planning, receive the basic training of urban and rural planning and design, and with the ability of urban and rural planning, urban and rural design and urban and rural planning management. 

3. Knowledge and Ability

(1) Master the basic theory and knowledge of urban planning;

(2) Master the knowledge of other disciplines related to urban planning, with the ability to analyze and solve urban problems;

(3) With the basic ability of urban planning and management;

(4) Know about the guidelines, policies and regulations of of the city development and urban planning;

(5) Understand the theoretical front and development trends of urban planning;

(6) Master the basic methods of document retrieval and data query, with certain ability of scientific research and practice;

4. Main Courses

Principle of city planning, urban planning and design, city design, urban planning theory and the history of urban development, urban road and traffic, urban ecology and environmental protection, city geography, city economics, regional planning 

5. Practical Teaching

Comprehensive social practice, urban practice, the general urban planning practice, computer application practice, graduation design, etc. Teaching time is not less than 40 weeks.

6. Employment Prospects

1. Graduates can get engaged in economic development planning, regional planning, urban development and urban and rural planning and management.

2. Graduates can get engaged in project planning and design, real estate planning and the advisory and research work of related policies and regulations in architectural planning and design companies, real estate enterprises, planning and development advisory organization.
