Engineering Degree Program in China - Urban Planning

1. Introduction

Urban Planning trains senior engineering and technical personnel with knowledge of urban planning and urban design, who can be engaged in urban planning, design and management, urban and rural road planning, urban and rural ecological planning, landscape and recreation system planning, urban and rural social and economic development planning, regional planning, urban and rural development, real estate planning and related policies and regulations research in departments of urban planning and design, urban planning management, decision-making consulting, real estate development, etc. 

2. Training Requirement

Students mainly study the basic theory and basic knowledge of urban and rural planning, urban and rural ecological and environmental protection, urban transport, urban and rural municipal engineering planning, regional planning, get basic training of urban and rural planning design, and should have the basic ability of urban and rural planning, design and management.

3. Core Competencies

1). Students will master the basic theory and knowledge of urban planning;

2). Students will master the knowledge related to urban planning, and have the ability to analyze, coordinate and solve urban problems;

3). Students have basic ability of urban planning and management;

4). Students will be familiar with principles, policies and regulations of urban development and urban planning;

5). Students will understand the theoretical frontier and development trends of the urban planning;

6). Students will master the basic methods of document retrieval and data query, and have certain ability to do practical work and scientific research.

4. Main Courses

Principles of urban planning, urban planning and design, urban design, urban planning theory and history of urban development, urban road and transportation, urban ecological and environmental protection, urban geography, urban economics, regional planning, etc.

5. Practical Teaching

Practical courses include comprehensive social practice, urban recognizing practice, urban master planning practice, computer application practice, graduation design, etc., the general arrangement should be not less than 40 weeks.

6. Employment Direction

Graduates can be engaged in urban planning, urban ecological and environmental protection, urban transportation, urban municipal engineering planning, regional planning, etc.
