Brief Introduction
Established in 1958, Changchun University of Chinese Medicine, originally with the name of Changchun College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, is one of the key universities in Jilin province and the only institution of higher-learning for fostering international students engaged in Chinese Medicine. Changchun University of Chinese Medicine is the only key higher-learning institute focusing on TCM fields that integrate medicine, science, engineering, management, & humanities subjects. The university has a widespread good reputation among provincial key institutes of the same field.
(1). History
Established in 1958, Changchun University of Chinese Medicine, originally with the name of Changchun College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and its predecessor is Changchun Traditional Chinese Medicine Training School. In 1962, Jilin Province Health Cadre School combined into the school, and in 1970, the school combined into Jilin Medical University. In 1978, the university returned to the establishment of Changchun College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Approved by the State Ministry of Education, Changchun University of Chinese Medicine has begun enrolling international students since 1992. In 2000, Jilin Provincial Staff Medical College and Health School Affiliated to Changchun College of Traditional Chinese Medicine respectively combined into the school. In 2006, it was renamed as Changchun University of Chinese Medicine with the approval of State Ministry of Education.

For over 55 years of hard work, development and innovation, Changchun University of Chinese Medicine molded TCM talents in various training programs including undergraduate, graduate and higher specialized professional studies, conferring Bachelor, Master’s, and Doctorate degrees. It also offers adult education and overseas student programs. Changchun University of Chinese Medicine is the only key higher-learning institute focusing on TCM fields that integrate medicine, science, engineering, management, & humanities subjects. There are 35 Master degree programs, 3 Doctoral degree programs and 2 Postdoctoral workstations at Changchun University of Chinese Medicine. There are 19 key subjects by SATCM and 7 key provincial-level subjects. Currently, the total enrollment exceeds 10643 Chinese students and 107 international students at Changchun University of Chinese Medicine.

The total area of Changchun University of Chinese Medicine is 547,000 square meters including construction area of 376,000 square meters. Changchun University of Chinese Medicine consists of 12 Schools and Departments and has main campus, located at Jingyue Economic Dvpt. Zone, adjoins JingYuetan National Forest Park. Changchun University of Chinese Medicine has 2 affiliated hospitals, 12Provincial and ministerial level laboratories, and engineering centers including 1 National Science and Technology Department of standardized pharmacological laboratory, 1 Key Laboratory of State Ministry of Education, 5 State Administration of traditional Chinese medicine level-three laboratories, 2 Key research Laboratories of the State Administration of traditional Chinese medicine, 1 Key Laboratory of Jilin provincial science and Technology Department, and Jilin 2 Engineering Centers of the provincial development and Reform Commission. Changchun University of Chinese Medicine also has 70 Laboratories at Bureau level. The library at Changchun University of Chinese Medicine holds a collection of more than 1.26 million books including 500,000 e-books and 2719 periodicals.
(4). Affiliated Hospitals
Changchun University of Chinese Medicine has two affiliated hospitals including The Affiliated Hospital of Changchun University of Chinese Medicine for TCM medical internship and clinical rotation for international students. The Affiliated Hospital of Changchun University of Chinese Medicine, established in 1958, is a complex of medical treatment, teaching, scientific research and comprehensive modernization "National Class A-Grade III TCM Hospital". The hospital enjoys high reputation and equipped with well facilities for teaching and reaching and medical treatment.
The Affiliated Hospital of Changchun University of Chinese Medicine now opens 1000 beds, 46 clinical departments, have many reaching medical laboratories in national and provincial level. The Affiliated Hospital has strong strength in hospital medical treatment, teaching and scientific researching.
(5). Significant Achievements
From 2008 to 2013, Changchun University of Chinese Medicine undertook a total of 581 research projects at all levels (including 49 research projects at national level, and 138 projects at provincial level), including 2 projects of national "973" Project, 25 items of National Science and technology major projects, key projects and support projects, 11 projects of National Natural Science Foundation, 7 major basic research projects of the State Administration of traditional Chinese Medicine, 8 projects of Doctoral Fund Project of Ministry of education and 75 projects of Provincial Science and Technology Department. There are 81 items got science and technology award at all levels at Changchun University of Chinese Medicine, including 2 items got the second reward of Science and technology of China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, 7 items got the third reward of Science and technology of China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, 1 item got the second reward of Science and technology of Chinese Association of the Integration of Traditional and Western Medicine and 1 item got the third reward of China Association of Acupuncture and Moxibustion.
Communication and Cooperation
Changchun University of Chinese Medicine has always attached great importance to building up international exchange and cooperation platform on promoting scientific and academic exchange. Actively engaged in comprehensive and in-depth international cooperation, Changchun University of Chinese Medicine has signed agreements with universities and institutions in America, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands, Hungary and etc. Still, in order to share resources and realize mutual advantage complement, Changchun University of Chinese Medicine wishes to establish long-term cooperation with high-level partners on culture exchange, health care, sending visitors and students in worldwide. Changchun University of Chinese Medicine has established friendly ties with more than 20 countries and research institutions, and held international Chinese medicine conference several times. Approved by the State Ministry of Education, Changchun University of Chinese Medicine has begun enrolling international students since 1992. At present, there are 107 international students enrolled at Changchun University of Chinese Medicine.
