For MBBS, China Medical University provides two kinds of training programs for international students - Six-year Program of International English Class of Medicine (IECM) and Six-year Program of North America English Class of Medicine (NAECM).
For Six-year Program of International English Class of Medicine (IECM), the last one and a half years is for internship or rotation after four and a half years’ theory study. One year is for Compulsory practice and a half year is for elective practice.
For Six-year Program of North America English Class of Medicine (NAECM), the last two years is for internship or rotation after three years’ theory study. One year is for Compulsory practice and a half year is for elective practice. Students practice in China for one year and practice in America for one year.
Internship is of great importance since the practicality of medicine, which is compulsory to acquire MBBS. International students who apply for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery must finish internship under the instruction of a professor.
China Medical University has 3 affiliated Comprehensive hospitals and 1 Special hospital, including the First Hospital of China Medical University, Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University, the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University and the Hospital of Stomatology. These affiliated hospitals enjoy high reputation in the northeast of China and provide a total number of more 9748 sickbeds for students to practice or rotation. Students can have good practice and internships here and receive enough exercises to be qualified as a doctor in the future.
