1. Brief Introduction
Guanghan is located in the heartland of Chengdu plain, 17 kilometers north of Deyang City and 23 kilometers south from Chengdu. Guanghan is a provincial historical and cultural city in Sichuan. It is also a national tourist city with rich historical sites, including Sanxingdui Ruin Site, national key cultural relics protection units Luocheng and Ming Dynasty temple Longju Temple, and Jinyan Lake, Fanghu Park, Guanghan Confucious’ Temple, Guanghan East Buddhist Temple and Ancient Tombs of Han Dynasty, etc.
2. History
Guanghan was named of Luo Xian in Qin Dynasty. In 1953, Guanghan became a part of Wenjiang area. In September, 1984, approved by the State Council, Guanghan was under the control of Deyang City. In May, 1987, Guanghan county has changed into Guanghan city, and directly under the jurisdiction of Sichuan province.
3. Economic Development
Guanghan adheres to the industrial development as the focus of the city’s economic development. Through the reform of property right system and concentration on industrial economic development, the industry in Guanghan has made great progress and formed two supporting industry clusters: petroleum machinery manufacturing industry and pharmaceutical industry. Machinery, medicine, chemical industry added value accounted for 81% of the city's above scale industry, private and joint-stock economy accounted for more than 96% of the city's total economic output. Guanghan has accelerated the pace of building new countryside. The city exists more than 50 national, provincial and municipal key agricultural enterprises, and formats production bases of high-quality grain and oil, vegetables, fruits, flowers, nursery stock, edible fungi and high-quality livestock and poultry, aquatic products, Chinese herbal medicines, etc.
4. Culture
In 2012, Guanghan performing group performed a total of 283 times, and the numbers of audience reached 311,000. At the end of the year, there are 1 museum, 1 cultural center, 18 cultural stations, 1 public library, and 100 thousand collection of books in Guanghan. The city also has 1 radio station, 5 television channels. The TV coverage rate is up to 95%. It has 1 sports venue, with public sports facilities of 648 thousand square meters and 53 national fitness paths. The numbers of people participating in the national fitness activities is up to 279 thousand.
5. Transportation
Guanghan has well-developed land transportation, including 108 State Road, Beijing Kunming expressway, Chengdu six ring road (Chengdu second beltway), Chengde Road, Jing Jiang Expressway.
In railway, Baoji Chengdu Railway, Chengdu Lanzhou railway, chengmianle intercity railway and Guangzhou Yue line run through China.
In aviation, Civil Aviation Flight University of China is the only university of training civil aviation pilots. The university’s airport can accommodate Boeing 737 aircraft.
6. Climate
Guanghan is in the humid subtropical climate zone, with significant continental monsoon climate. It has four distinctive seasons. The annual average temperature is 16.3°C (61.3 °F).
