Brief Introduction
Dalian Medical University (DMU) was founded in 1947, for over 60 years, it has become a multi-disciplinary, multi-level comprehensive medical university which specializing in medicine, science, liberal arts, management, law, philosophy and engineering.
1. Beautiful Campus with National Classical Architecture
Dalian Medical University is located in the golden coach along the Lvshun South Road and connects the seaside touring areas and high-tech developing zone, with a total area of 1.5 km2. The design plan of the campus won the award of National Classical Architecture for human settlements, which focuses on the idea of ecological protection. "sea, wave, beacon, ovum" are the elements of medical humanities principle which are merged into the overall design.
2. Construction of Discipline
Dalian Medical University has one state-level key discipline, 4 post-doctoral programs, 4 first-level and 37 second-level disciplines authorized to confer doctoral degrees, 9 first-level disciplines authorized to confer master degrees, and it also has 20 bachelor-degree programs (such as MBBS, BDS, Laboratory Medicine, Stomatology, Pharmacy and Pharmacology).
3. Strong Faculty
Dalian Medical University is rich in education capabilities with over 7,700 teaching staff, doctors and nurses among whom nearly 1,400 are professors and associate professors. There are more than 14,000 enrolled students among whom more than 4,000 are in postgraduate programs, more than 8,700 are in undergraduate programs and about 1,100 are international students from countries all over the world.
4. Great Educational Facility-Library
Dalian Medical University Library was established in 1947. Since then, the library has moved and changed its name several times. The building of Qizhen Library was set up in 2007 with an area of over 20,000 m2, including 2,000 seats and 1,000 computers with internet access. The environment is peaceful, comfortable, relaxing, and individual. Besides traditional books, magazines and e-reading areas, the library also sets some humanistic and individual areas, such as Arts & Humanities books, Individual Study Room, Collective Study Room and so on. Readers can use the “All-in-One” campus card anywhere in the library.
As a medical library, it collects biomedical literatures as its main body, and also has literature of various types and carriers on other natural science and social science，including books, journals, and graduate dissertations, multimedia, web DB and so on. By the end of 2014, it has more than 1, 98 million collections, including 1 million thousand e-collections. The university orders 60 databases with types of retrieval, full-text, learning & exam and so on, and also build 5 subject databases. Readers can access more than 20,000 full-text e-periodicals or e-books respectively now. The library not only exerts the functions of education and information for teaching, scientific research, medical work in the university, but also is the bio-medical information center of Dalian and South of Liaoning Province.

5. Scientific Research
Dalian Medical University has a national Joint International Research Center, a national International Science and Technology Cooperation Base, a State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine Laboratory, 11 key laboratories of Liaoning Province, 4 Translational Medicine Research Center of Liaoning Province, a major Scientific and Technological Platform of Liaoning province, a Province Engineering Laboratory, a Public Service Platform of Laboratory Animals of Liaoning Province, 12 key laboratories of Liaoning Provincial Universities and Colleges and a Health Development Research Center of Liaoning Province.
Since 2010, the university has undertaken over 580 national and provincial research projects, of which more than 270 projects got funding from National Basic Research Program of China, Major National Science & Technology Program and National Natural Science Program. Scientific research funds are more than 200 million CNY. 1,160 SCI papers have been published with the corresponding authors or first authors of Dalian Medical University, 8 are ESI highly cited papers. 67 projects have got the award of Provincial-level technology program, 66 were in receiving invention patents. 3 academic journals of DMU are “Journal of Dalian Medical University”, “Medicine & Philosophy” and “Chinese Journal of Microecology”.
6. Affiliated Hospitals
Dalian Medical University has 19 educational schools and departments, and 3 directly affiliated teaching hospitals with nearly 8,700 beds in total: the First Affiliated Hospital, the Second Affiliated Hospital and the Third Affiliated Hospital. The three directly affiliated hospitals are all class A tertiary comprehensive hospitals in medical treatment, teaching and scientific research. The university has as one of the universities awarded the “Excellent Physician Training Program” by the Education Ministry, our education focuses on training medical talents who have strong clinical abilities, dedicated scientific research spirits combined with humanity spirit in medicine. During the past six sessions of National Clinical Skill Competition for Medical School Students, the university won the championship in 2013, 2014, and won the first prize of the Northeast division five times.

Dalian Medical University has focused on establishing a close relationship with world famous universities to develop an international education strategy; this has resulted in great achievements in optimization of talent structure, progress of education levels and a revolution of subject disciplines. It has established close collaborative relationships with over a hundred universities and research institutions from more than 30 countries and regions. In 2012, Dalian Medical University received permission from Ministry of Education, DMU commenced the Joint Venture Program of Master of Public Health (MPH) with Benedictine University and there have been two cohorts of students studying in this program till now. In May 2015, the first cohort of 44 students has successfully received the degree issued by Benedictine University.
