Guangzhou University (GZU) founded in 1928, is located in Guangzhou city, Guangdong province.Guangzhou University is a comprehensive university named after the third largest city in China. In 2000, five universities merged into the present-day Guangzhou University. Guangzhou University (GZU) was founded in 1928. In 1948, the Institute of Economics was established, approved by the National Government in 1949, and began to enroll graduates in economics, becoming the leader of private universities in the Republic of China. In June 1951,during the adjustment of the distribution of higher education, Guangzhou University with the National University, Culture University, Zhuhai University, Lingnan University, Guangzhou Law School and South China Business College was merged into South China United University. In July 2000, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the Guangzhou Institute of Education, the Guangzhou Teachers College, the Guangzhou normal College, the Guangzhou University, the South China Construction Institute (West Institute) were merged to form the new Guangzhou University.
