Hefei City, China - Hefei University of Technology Located City

Hefei, the capital city of Anhui Province, with a population of 7.57 million is located between the Yangtze River and the Huaihe River, nearest to the coastal cities (like Shanghai) in eastern China, and beside the Chaohu Lake. It is a central-China city.

When we say Hefei is an ancient city, we mean it has a history of more than 2,000 years, known as “a historic site famous from the Three Kingdoms Period and the hometown of Lord Bao”. When we say it is young, we mean it is a newly emerging industrial city. Hefei is also a newly emerging industrial city.

As a booming comprehensive industrial city, Hefei is one of the major cities in China opening up to the outside world. Hefei has been listed among Top 100 Cities with comprehensive strength, Top 50 Cities with Excellent Investment Environment and Top 30 Cities with Overall & Growth Competition Strength. Many famous enterprises, well-known both at home and abroad, are located and develop here, such as Meiling, Rongshida, Guofeng, Hefei Haier, Hefei Changhe, Fangcao corporations. Household appliance, chemical industry and machine building have reached advanced level in Anhui Province even throughout the country.

Hefei is located in the Middle East area of China, the connecting area between subtropics and warm temperate zone with a subtropics moist monsoon climate. The annual precipitation is about 1,000 millimeters, the average temperature about 15.7 centigrade and the relative moisture 76%. The air quality reaches a good class or better for over 261 days a year, which reaches Grade 2 of the state environment protection standard.

Hefei is also among the Chinese cities most suitable for living. Various honors such as Garden City, Excellent Tourist City, Clean City and Excellent City for Comprehensive Environment Management show the good living environment. The percentage of greenery coverage reaches 44% and public green area per capita realizes 11.44 square meters.

Hefei, a science and educational city, is a key scientific research and educational base in China. The city boasts more than 200 various kinds of science and research institutes including Hefei institutes of Physical Science, CAS, and almost 100 institutions of higher learning and technical colleges including USTC, HUT and Anhui University of TCM. The intellectual resources rank foremost compared with other similar cities in China.

Anhui Province

Anhui Province, shorted as Wan, is located in East China, on the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and the Huai River with both rivers running through. It is in the hinterland of the Yangtze River Delta. Anhui covers an area of 139.4 thousand square kilometers with a population of 60.829 million by the end of 2014. Hefei is the capital. Anhui Province borders six provinces: Shandong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hubei, and Henan.

Various landforms present in Anhui Province with the general topography of high in the southwest and low in the northeast. Mountains and hills cover two thirds of the total area. The climate here is warm and moist, and the four seasons are distinct as Anhui is located in the transitional area between temperate zone and subtropical zone. The annual average temperature is 14℃-17℃, the average sunshine time 1800-2500 hours, the average frost-free period 200-250 days and the average rainfall 800-1800mm per year.

 Abundant tourist resources have attracted millions of tourists home and abroad to Anhui including beautiful landscape, many places of historic interest, and rich folk customs. The most famous scenic wonders include Huangshan (The Yellow Mountain), Mount Jiuhua (Buddhist pilgrimage), Mount Tianzhu, Mount Langya, and Mount Qiyun. These are all national scenic spots.
