North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power (NCWU), accounting for 2336 mus and the construction area is 680,000 aquare meters. (1) History
North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power (NCWU) was established in Beijing, 1951, and changed its name as Beijing Water Resources College of the Ministry of Water Resources in 1954. Then Beijing Hydroelectric Power School with Beijing College of Water Resources and Electric Power Correspondence were incorporated in 1958, named after Beijing Water Resources and Electric Power College. In 1969, the college was relocated in Yuecheng Reservoir, Cixian County, Hebei Province and changed its name to Hebei College of Water Resources and Electric Power in 1971. The college was relocated in Handan, Heibei province in 1977, and had changed its name to North China College of Water Resources and Electric Power in 1978. The college was relocated to Zhengzhou City, Henan Province in 1990. The college was sponsored by the Ministry of Water Resources, and then transferred to Henan provincial government in 2000. In 2009, the Ministry of Water Resources and Henan provincial government had signed the strategy agreement of codevelopment of the North China College of Water Resources and Electric Power. In 2013, the school was renamed as North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power.

To date North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power enconpasses 20 teaching units, namely, School of Waster Conservancy, School of Electric Power, etc. After 67 years’ construction and development, NCWU has become a multidisciplinary comprehensive public university characterizad by water resources and engineering as the backbone programs. There are 64 full-time undergraduate programs, including 9 national and provincial excellence program construction disciplines, 15 national and provincial comprehensive reform pilot disciplines, and 17 national and provincial outstanding disciplines with distinguishing feature. NCWU has 13 provincial level key disciplines, the authority to confer doctoral degrees in 3 primary disciplines, the authority to confer doctoral degrees in 19 secondary disciplines, and also has the authority to confer master’s degrees in 13 primary disciplines, the authority to confer master’s degrees in 58 secondary disciplines, 7 categories of professional master's degree, and 15 master's degree authorization points.
(3) Academic facilities and Scientific research
North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power encompasses 31 research institutions, such as the Yellow River Academy of Sciences, Water Culture Research Center, etc. The Water Resources Training Center and Office of the Ministry of Water Resources of RTVU Open Education were established in NCWU. Ever since the China’s 12th Five Year Plan, NCWU has hosted or participated 1,800 research projects of various academic categories with a scientific research fund of nearly 600 million RMB. It has published 5,200 papers on the core academicjournals, 3200 of which have been included in SCI, SSCI, CSSCI, and EI as their indexes. Moreover, the university has published more than 400 academic books and won 600 scientific awards of various levels and sorts. Among these prizes, 5 of them are National Science Progress Award, over 140 are Provincial Scientific Award. NCWU stands the top rankings of Henan higher education involving prizes one’s ever triumphed.
(4) North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power Achievement
Being the first national master's degreegranting unit, a doctoral granting unit, NCWU is elected as the Ministry of Education of the second batch of " Excellence Engineer Education Program " among other colleges and universities. In 2012, the school was selected the Midwestern university infrastructure project in colleges and universities. In 2016, it was approved the Ministry of Water Resources "National Regimen Education Base". NCWU keeps a foothold in Henan province, admitting students from the whole country, continues to consolidate and improve the basic status of undergraduate education, positively develops the postgraduate education, and vigorously expands international cooperation based on the opportunity of the countr "Double First Class Universities" construction and development of classification of colleges and provides strong human resources and intellectual support for regional economic and social development and for the national water conservancy and electric power industry.
(5) Communication and international cooperation
NCWU has a long history of international cooperation. NCWU has begun to recruit overseas students since 1958, and carried out assistance to Vietnam University of Water Resources and Electric Power. In recent years, NCWU paid more attention to international cooperation and communication, implemented an open minded schooling strategy, and constantly improved the qualityof education and internationalization. Moreover, NCWU has signed cooperative agreements and implemented Chinese foreign cooperation in running schools with Swinburne University of Technology, University Nice Sophia Antipolis, University of Teesside, Keimyung University, Ural Federal University and the other world famous universities. NCWU has actively integrated itself into the Higher Education Communication and Cooperation System of BRICS, and become the leading university in BRICS NU on the field of water resources and pollution control and energy. NCWU has constructed “BRICS NU · Water Engineering and Energy Research Center” with Ural Federal University, has constructed “China and Russia High Speed Railway Research Center” with St. Petersburg National Chiao Tung University, and has also constructed “Logistics Engineering Research Center” with Korea University of Inhok.
