1. History
Shanghai Second Polytechnic University was originally founded in April 29, 1960 and named as Shanghai Amateur University of Technology. In 1965, the university changed its name as Shanghai's part-time Amateur University of Technology. In 1972, municipal committee approved the resumption of the name “Shanghai Amateur University of Technology”. In July 25, 1984, the Municipal People's government decided renamed the university as Shanghai Second Polytechnic University. In November 20, 2001, approved by the people's government, a new "Shanghai Second Polytechnic University" was established by combining with Shanghai East Shanghai Career Technical College.
2. Discipline and Programs
Shanghai Second Polytechnic University has 10 second-level teaching units, such as College of Engineering, College of Arts and Sciences, School of Economics and Management and others. There are 6 disciplines including engineering, economics, management, literature, science and arts, and 20 categories of programs, 39 undergraduate programs, and 1 professional master degree awarded field (environmental engineering). At now, there are more than 12000 full-time students, including about 150 graduate students, more than 7000 further education students.
