Shenyang Jianzhu University (SJZU), established in 1948, is the only comprehensive university in Liaoning Province which attaches its academic priority to Civil Engineering and Architecture as well as multi-disciplinary among engineering science, administration, arts, nature science, agronomy and law. (1) History
Shenyang Jianzhu University was established in 1948 as the former of the military industrial special school of the Northeast military region of the people's Liberation Army. In March 1949, the school is divided into preparatory programs for one year and undergraduate programs for four years. In July 1984, the school changed its name to Shenyang Architecture and Civil Engineering Institute, directly under the Ministry of construction of China. In May 2004, the school changed its name to Shenyang Jianzhu University by approve of Ministry of Education.

With its 17 subordinate schools, Shenyang Jianzhu University attaches its academic priority to Civil Engineering and Architecture as well as multi-disciplinary among engineering science, arts, administration, nature science, agronomy and law. With its 17 subordinate schools, Shenyang Jianzhu University has 1700 professional faculty members, including nearly 400 professors and associate professors. Shenyang Jianzhu University library has a rich collection of 1.22 million books. Shenyang Jianzhu University also boasts with 21 key laboratories in national, province-level, one National technology transfer demonstration and nine province-level engineering and technological research centers.
(4) Great achievements
In the past five years, Shenyang Jianzhu University obtained 2255 scientific and technological research projects and a total of 554 million Yuan grants and funds for the research work. Many of the above research projects have won national or provincial awards, including 4 nation-level “Scientific and Technological Progress/Invention Awards”. Since 2004, SJZU students have got over 100 patterns annually, which topped the list of universities in Liaoning Province. In 2005 and 2008, Shenyang Jianzhu University was twice awarded the national “Outstanding Research Institution of Higher Education”. Journal of Shenyang Jianzhu University (Natural Science) is awarded by the Ministry of Education the First Prize of Excellent Scientific and Technical Journals in China.
(5) Communication and international cooperation
Shenyang Jianzhu University has been enrolling international students since 1956, and each year received about 200 foreign students who come from diversity of countries as Korea, Germany, Russia, Pakistan, USA, UK, Romania, Brazil, Netherland, DPRK, India, Mongolia, Philippine, etc. Shenyang Jianzhu University has set up friendly relationship with more than 60 universities in more than 40 countries around the world.
