Suzhou does not have its own airport. Passengers must travel to neighboring Wuxi’s airport, or Shanghai Hongqiao Airport, to take planes. Soochow University do not provide airport pick up service for international students.
Originally known as Wuxi International Airport, Sunan Shuofang International Airport is the closest airport to Suzhou. Recently, the airport has opened international routes to Tokyo, Osaka and Bangkok. International student can come to university by taxi, it is around 1 hour and around 125 CNY (Chinese currency cash is required) from Sunan Shuofang International Airport to the campus.
Shanghai Hongqiao Airport now handles both international and domestic flights daily to Japan, South Korea, China’s Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, as well as many other cities in China. It is around 1 hour 40 minutes and around 250 CNY (Chinese currency cash is required) from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport to the campus.
