Southern Medical University Outstanding International Students Scholarship for Freshmen
To attract and encourage more students to study in Southern Medical University and to give awards to excellent international students, the university sets up the freshman scholarship for international students.
1. Application Requirements
(1). Applicants should have a foreign citizenship, a valid passport and meet the relevant requirements for international students to study in China.
(2). Age Requirements:
- Doctoral Degree Candidate: under the age of 40
- Master Degree Candidate: under the age of 35
- Bachelor Degree Candidate: under the age of 30
(3). Applicants should respect Chinese Culture and abide by all Laws and regulations as applicable to International Students studying in China. Applicants should be in a proper physical and mental health condition and should be honest. He/ She should not have any Criminal Record in any country.
(4). Applicants should have excellent academic credentials and be fully commit themselves to the program and should be fully motivated to study in China. The GPA of Master’s degree or doctoral degree candidates should be above 3.0 for the previous phase of study, without failure or retake in any courses. Bachelor’s degree candidates should score over 75 for all courses with no failure.
(5). Language proficiency:
English Medium Program: applicants from non-English-speaking countries shall provide TOEFL or IELTS certificate (TOEFL 90 or above, IELTS 6.5 or above). If the high school diploma or the bachelor’s degree or master’s degree was gained in English-speaking countries, scores of TOEFL or IELTS will not be required normally, and the certificate of English medium of required courses issued by the graduate school shall be provided.
2.Application Materials
Apply for Master’s / Doctoral Degree Programs:
(1). Application Form;
(2). Scan copies of the visa page and photo page of passport;
(3). Scan copy of Highest Academic Degree Certificate (notarized), Expected Graduation Certificate for fresh graduates
(4). Scan copy of notarized transcript of all courses during the highest academic degree education, certificates in languages other than English must be attached with notarized translations in English;
(5). Scan copy of TOEFL or IELTS certificate;
(6). Study plan in China. 1000 words for master degree applicants and 1500 words for doctoral degree applicants written in English. The content includes personal studying and working experiences, academic research achievement, research and learning programs during master or doctoral study, personal developing goals after graduation, etc.;
(7). Two original copies of recommendation letters written by professors or associate professors in Chinese or English (with signatures and contact information);
(8). List and abstracts of published papers or other materials demonstrating research abilities;
(9). ID photos (same size as passport photo, paste one on the application form);
(10). Scan copy of Physical Examination Record for Foreigner;
(11). Personal statement (content: if fail to get this scholarship, whether the applicant is willing to become self-funded student or not. Without this statement it’ll be regarded as agreed to become self-funded student.)
Apply for Bachelor’s Degree Programs:
(1). Application Form;

Guangdong Government Freshman Scholarship for International Students
