TCM Internship at Anhui University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, China
TCM Medical Programs of Bachelor Degree have duration of 5 years, the last year is clinical practice and rotation. Internship is of great importance since the practicality of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which is compulsory to acquire TCM Medical Bachelor Degree. Internship is also necessary to participate in Chinese Medicine Practitioners Qualification Examination for being a formal TCM doctor after graduation.
Anhui University of Traditional Chinese Medicine owns 2 affiliated hospitals of the provincial level, 1 TCM clinic and 1 hospital specialized in the combination of Chinese and Western medicine: The 1st Affiliated Hospital (The Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine), The 2nd Affiliated Hospital (The Hospital of Acupuncture & Tuina), The Affiliated Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese & Western Medicine and The Affiliated Neurological Hospital.
After 4 years’ study of TCM Basic Theory and Clinical Exercise; international students who apply for TCM Bachelor Degree must finish 1 year internship under the instruction of a TCM professor. After 1 year internship, practical skills will be greatly improved, which will lay the foundation for being a TCM doctor in the future. An examination needs to be passed after 1 year rotation. International students can participate in Chinese Medicine Practitioners Qualification Examination after another 1 year internship in the affiliated hospital of the University. After passing this exam, he or she can become a formal traditional Chinese doctor.
