In-Campus Hostel:
Tongji University School of Medicine offers international students in-campus hostel and the dormitory building operates like a hotel. There are 2 hostel buildings special for international students in Siping Campus – No.1 Building and No.2 Building. Altogether 5 types of room are available to international students.
Student double room A: Net area 15 or 18 m2; facilities: air conditioner, attached bathroom, electric kettle, telephone, TV, refrigerator
Student double room B: Net area 15 or 18 m2; facilities: air conditioner, attached bathroom, electric kettle, telephone
Standard double room: Net area 15 m2; facilities: air conditioner, attached bathroom, electric kettle, telephone, TV
Double suite: Net area 26 m2; facilities: air conditioner, attached bathroom, electric kettle, telephone, TV, refrigerator
Single student room: Net area 18 m2; facilities: air conditioner, attached bathroom, electric kettle, telephone, TV, refrigerator
For international students who choose double room, the roommate could be assigned by the University or chosen by himself or herself after reaching University. Separate accommodations are provided for male and female. There are rules and regulations for accommodation, students shall read carefully and abide after reaching University.
The hostel building equips with electrical lift. Room has complete facilities including air conditioner, attached bathroom with 24 hours hot water supply, color TV, telephone, bed with required amenities and furniture, electric kettle, refrigerator, internet access, public laundry and kitchen, microwave oven available on each floor and a dry room for cleaning and washing on the first floor of each dorm building. Students are required to pay the electricity, water and internet they use.
Off-Campus Accommodation:
Off-campus accommodation is also permitted for international students at Tongji University School of Medicine.
1. International students should handle the formalities of off-campus housing in the international student office (administrative).
2. Off-campus housing formalities shall be prepared in advance.
(1) International students who are private rental should ask the landlord for security permits and sign the renting contract with the landlord.
(2) Foreign students who are living in hotels, restaurants, rental apartments should provide the relevant proof of accommodation deadline by property department.
(3) International students living with relatives must provide the guarantor (refers to registered permanent residence of borrowed residence) information (name, address, telephone, relationship with the warrantee and valid documentation).The guarantor must sign a written guaranty with the warrantee, and promised: agree the warrantee’s accommodation there and undertake corresponding legal responsibility.
3. Go through off-campus accommodation registration formalities. International students to live off campus firstly get “foreign students of Tongji University off-campus accommodation registration form” in the international student office (administrative) and finish this form seriously and truthfully. Then the international student office (administrative) has sign and seal on this form. With this form, international students can handle accommodation facilities in the local police station and fill in “registration form of temporary residence” (pink page) issued by the police station. Next apply “Letter of Introduction” in the international student office (administrative) with “registration form of temporary residence” (pink page). Bring “Letter of Introduction” and “registration form of temporary residence” (pink page) to Shanghai Administration of Entry and Exit to go through the formalities of residence address change.
