In 2009, it received re-accreditation and also received JCI accreditation for its specialized stroke center in 2011. SRRSH offers 29 specialties including inpatient and outpatient sections. These include: emergency care, intensive care, and surgery. In totally, SRRSH receives over 1 million patient visits each year.
Management
The Affiliated Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital employs a style of management that integrates best practices from both Chinese and Western cultural models. With its continuous focus on high-quality, patient-centered medical care, the hospital has achieved a level of performance which meets or exceeds national and international benchmarks. Nationally, it leads the way in patient safety categories like limiting patient length of stay and reducing unnecessary drug prescription. The creation of a bed coordination department has increased efficiency in bed use despite 99% bed occupancy by making sure patients have beds available in patient wards instead of being stuck in hallways waiting for rooms to open up. The hospital annually accepts requests from more than 2,500 individuals and institutions who want to visit the facilities and see SRRSH's core values of "honesty, respect, commitment, unity, and excellence”.
International Collaboration
International collaboration has been strength of SRRSH from its inception as a joint effort with Loma Linda University (USA) to the present day. Every year, over 40 staff members receive training overseas in institutions like Loma Linda University Medical Center as well as the Mayo Clinic (USA), Shizuoka General Hospital (Japan), and Cabrini Health (Australia). Annual conferences like SRRSH's Academic Week bring national and international health professionals together to find new solutions in healthcare. SRRSH also welcomes guest professors from around the world who share their expertise in clinical care, research and education. This emphasis has given the hospital a strong cultural understanding and the necessary expertise with which to create positive and economically feasible cross-border relationships, which include staff training programs with institutions in the USA, Australia, Germany and Canada. Reaching SRRSH's vision of "providing the nation's finest care through excellence in research, skills, facilities, service and management" would not be possible without the contributions of experts from around the world.
Patient Care
The Affiliated Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital pursues its service philosophy of "giving you sincerity, confidence and love" vindicated through the positive experiences of patients who receive care here. This emphasis on care shines through in the treatment of patients with minimally invasive laparoscopic surgeries. Available in most surgical departments, and accounting for over 50% of total surgeries at SRRSH, laparoscopy minimizes scarring and allows patients to recover more quickly, all while reducing the patient's risk. The highly advanced Heart Center and the JCI-accredited Stroke Centers both emphasize patient-focused care. The Health Promotion Center exemplifies the hospital's mission of "bringing optimal holistic healthcare to humanity" by concentrating on patient health, rather than illness, and preventing acute and chronic diseases before they present.
