Answer: The program is fully English medium program.
2. When does the academic year begin and are there multiple enrollment dates/ batches?
Answer: The academic year begins in early September. Shantou University Medical College accepts enrollment in September only.
3. Are students accepted directly into an undergraduate bachelor degree or are they expected to have previously studied?
Answer: Students are directly accepted into an undergraduate bachelor degree.
4. What scholarships are offered to international students in the program?
Answer: You will have the opportunity to apply for the Guangdong Province Government International Student Scholarship.
5. What is the job outlook for the students after completing the program at Shantou University Medical College?
Answer: Most of our students intend to practice in their home countries. To practice in China, graduates should pass the National Medical Licensure Examination which is conducted in Chinese.

Answer: Shantou City is a great choice for international students to study medicine. The expenses here is around 150USD for your food per month.
7. Can you provide airport pick up from the local airport to the Campus?
Answer: Shantou University Medical College doesn’t provide Airport Pick-up service to international students at present. So, international students need to go to the university by themselves from the Jieyang Chaoshan International Airport.
8. How is the climate in Shantou City?

9. While making registration, can I pay the money in cash? If in cash then can I pay it in U.S Dollars currency?
Answer: Paying the tuition fees is part of the registration process, it can be done in cash in the form of Chinese currency (CNY), but since the largest note in China is 100 CNY, you will have to carry a lot of notes to pay and this can be unsecured and difficult. It is recommended that you open a Chinese current bank account and have the money deposited there, then pay by Chinese debit card. The finance office only accepts Chinese Currency.

11. What is the voltage used in China?
Answer: The voltage here is 220 V. Converters and power strips may be purchased locally.
12. How can I exchange some Chinese currency for my pocket money when I just arrived in China?
Answer: Students can exchange some Chinese currency in bank for shuttle/bus ticket fare and pocket money in the big international airport when they arrive in China. And students can buy telephone card from business counter in the airport to give international call and domestic call if students need.
13. How is China’s medical education ranking in the world?
Answer: China’s medical education ranks 4th worldwide.
14. What about the canteen in the university?
Answer: There are several canteens in the campus providing various food for international students. Cafeterias are on the 2nd floor, above the Shantou University Medical College Supermarket near the Postgraduate Dorm Building. There is another cafeteria behind the Medical Building.
