Answer: The program is fully English medium program.
2. How is the living standard in Chengdu city?
Answer: The living expense here is relatively reasonable, for example, about 150 USD for your food per month.
3. What about the canteen in the university?
Answer: There is a cafeteria for international students, a restaurant for foreign experts, and a Muslim restaurant serving delicious meals with dinning card, international students can also have meals at cafeterias for Chinese students. Chengdu is known worldwide for its unique cuisine. International students can enjoy kinds of the traditional Chinese food in Chengdu.
4. What’s the accommodation like?
Answer: All the rooms are furnitured with air-conditioning, telephone, color TV and internet access. To create a favorable environment for study and life of international students, There are dormitories for international students on the three campuses of SCU with people on duty 24 hours. The office of international students assigns special staff to manage the dormitories and help the students deal with problems in their life.
5. How can I arrive in Chengdu city, the location of University?
Answer: If there is no direct flight to Chengdu, the recommended flight is transit from Shanghai to Chengdu (around 3.5 hours), or transit from Beijing to Chengdu (around 3 hours), or transit from Hong Kong to Chengdu (around 2.5 hours). Students can choose the travel route according to their location.
6. Can you send a vehicle to take us from the airport to the University?
Answer: West China Medical Center of Sichuan University doesn’t provide any airport pick up service for international students at present.
7. How can I exchange some Chinese currency for my pocket money when I just arrived in China?
Answer: Students can exchange some Chinese currency in bank for shuttle/bus ticket fare and pocket money in the big international airport when they arrive in China. And students can buy telephone card from business counter in the airport to give international call and domestic call if students need.
8. How is the climate in Chengdu City?
Answer: Chengdu has a monsoon-influenced humid subtropical climate and is largely mild and humid. It has four distinct seasons, with moderate rainfall concentrated mainly in the warmer months, and relieved from both sweltering summers and freezing winters. Annual average temperature is 15.7 °C (60.26°F).
9.How are the transportation, telecom and internet in Chengdu City?
Answer: There is 1 airport, 3 train stations and many buses to most cities in China and many foreign cities. There are convenient public facilities for telecom and internet, you can buy telecom card to call in any time. There is internet access in international students’ dormitories and they just need to pay the fees according to their use. There are also lots of internet pubs for going on internet.
10. How is China’s medical education ranking in the world?
Answer: China’s medical education ranks 4th worldwide.
11. Can a student open a Bank Account?
Answer: Yes, a student could open a bank account in his name to keep his surplus money safe. He could also use this account to have his family remit any additional money as required.
12. Is learning Chinese language compulsory?
Answer: Even though the program is taught in English, but international students must study Chinese language according to Ministry of Education, China. International students are required to pass the basic Chinese language level. Students need practice with Chinese patients since clinical classes are taken in hospital. So international students need to know basic Chinese language.
Besides, it will be helpful for students in daily life if they learn some Chinese language.
